I do... again!

Here is a picture of a bouquet I did a couple of months ago for a vow renewal. The bouquet consisted of dark pink roses, light pink roses, blush spray roses, stargazer lilies and white snapdragons.

The bride, who was intending for the event to stay low key, was surprised at the ceremony with a gorgeous white dress from her husband and our bouquet from her good friend, who hired us to make it! What a nice sweet way to say "I do... again".

Here is a closeup of the flowers.

FALL-ing in Love

I am so excited to post the pictures we just got from our wedding a few weeks ago! Our bride, Janna, was so sweet and easy going, and her flower choices were perfect for the season!

She chose gerber daisies in shades of red, orange, and yellow, mango calla lilies and red hypericum berries. The flowers were bold.... and so gorgeous!

Here are a few shots of the bride's bouquet:

Here is a picture of the bride's bouquet next to one of her bridesmaid's bouquet, which consisted of gerber daisies and the red hypericum berries:

Awww... the lovely details. I absolutely LOVE her cake (not to mention the shot of our flowers in the background)!

Just a peek

I finally have a sneak peek!

I am waiting for the photographer to send me pictures from my recent wedding at Villa Serena, but until I get all the pictures, here is a peek!

I love this shot of our sweet bride, Janna, with her adorable flower girl. I love that the photographer, Jennifer Wiley, captured this little moment between them, and I really love that the flower girl is captivated by our bouquet!

Our bride chose a bouquet of mango calla lilies, red hypericum berries, and gerber daisies in shades of yellow, red and orange. It was just gorgeous for fall!

We will post more pictures as soon as we get them!

Whew!

It has been so busy! I know I am a day late, but here is your

This week's Love Shot come from J.Meyers Photography
(http://www.jmyersphotos.com)

I just love seeing all the creative ways photographers capture images of the wedding rings, and this is just one of my new favorites.

Last weekend, I met this Jesse Myers from J. Myers Photography at the Chic Occasions Bridal Show at Chateau Elan, which was supported by The Knot. I absolutely love that venue, and I enjoyed seeing some new ideas and meeting some different vendors.

This weekend, we had a wedding up at Villa Serena (www.villaserenaatlanta.com).
The location was stunning, and the bride's flower choices were
GORGEOUS!
Our bride, Janna, chose mango calla lilies and gerber daisies.
The flowers were perfect for a cool, fall evening wedding,
and the gerber daisies were so bright and bold!
I can't wait to see the pictures! Of course, as soon as I get them, I will post them here!

In the meantime,

Feel that Chill in the Air?

Yes! It looks like Fall is here! Many of you brides-to-be will have ample time to plan your wedding during the weekend, while your groom is zoned out in front of the tv watching football.

Today, I thought I would share the Fall Floral Trends with you, according to Colin Cowie, wedding planner to celebrities, heads of state and royalty around the world.

Fall Floral Trends
  • Incorporate fruits, vegetables, and other autumn harvest botanicals. Add apples, pears, clementines, oranges and even grapes to flower arrangements for a splash of rich color.
  • Incorporate twigs, vines and dried elements as reference to the maturing autumn season.
  • Bring in elements of gold to dress up traditional harvest arrangements.
  • Go for looser, more organic bouquets from which flowers seem to cascade naturally.
  • Add sparkling jewels or rhinestones, or peices of amber, to make bouquets more personal and keep with the trend of adornment.

We have a wedding coming up at Villa Serena that will really get us in the mood for fall ~ Mango Calla Lilies, Red and Orange Gerber Daisies and Red Hypericum Berries. The flowers will perfectly compliment the season... reds, golds and oranges. I can't wait to see how everything looks together. As soon as we get pictures, we will post them here!

In the meantime...

Happy Wedding Planning!

We have noticed that there seems to be a trend for crazy, fun photobooths! We are in love with this idea, as we already mentioned in our blog entry about the St. Louis wedding. In that blog, I mentioned that when I got information about companies that provide that service here in Atlanta, I would share it with you. Well! I have the names of two companies that provide this type service:

At the Studio Wed Event, Liana Photography provided a booth for the fun, posed shots:

"The skies above are blue"...

"The skies above are blue", but there is another reason I am quoting Ms. Etta James! It is because I am so excited I got these pictures "At Last"!

In May, we had the opportunity to work with our sweet bride, Liz, who went for a very classic bouquet of creamy white peonies, cream roses, and white freesias! The bouquet smelled absolutely heavenly, and I loved how gorgeous and delicate the flowers looked together. Of course, I couldn't wait to see the pictures from the wedding!

Well, what a treat it was to go through the slideshow tonight! Liz looked stunning, and I love how the photographer, Alex Lajom, was able to capture such sweet moments from the day. Here are a few of the pictures!

Here is another picture of the bouquet ~
Creamy white peonies, cream roses, and white freesia

I absolutely love this shot with her flower girls
(and another peek of her bouquet!)

Congratulations to Liz and her groom, Rommel!

I can't help myself!

I have had such a packed week, yet I can't get enough! So, here I am up late blogging to share some ideas and news!

On Friday night, I stayed up late searching for new ideas and reading some of my favorite blogs. One of these was the Blue World Studios blog, where I found this picture from one of their recent weddings. They are just amazing! Well, imagine my delight when I found out that a couple of the brides I met with this weekend for consultations had already booked Blue World Studios as the photographer for their weddings! They both had fabulous visions, and I know that Blue World Studios will do a fabulous job capturing all the details! You can check out more of their gorgeous work at:

www.blueworldstudios.com

This last week, we had so much fun creating flowers for a vow renewal! The bouquet consisted of White Roses, Hot Pink 'Princess' Roses, Blush Spray Roses and Pink Stargazer Lilies. As soon as we get the pictures, we will be sure to post them!

In the past, I have worked on a lot of events with Michelle Gainey from Lemiga Events. Michelle has now opened StudioWed, a stylish and sophisticated planning studio, and this Sunday (August 23rd), they are hosting an Interactive Bridal Event from 4pm - 7pm. It would be a great event to attend for ideas and great prizes! Here is the invitation:

You can register to attend at www.studiowed.eventbrite.com

Finally, I will be celebrating my own 5 year wedding anniversary this Friday, August 21st! From a business perspective, I can't believe how much the wedding trends have changed in the last five years! From a personal perspective, I can't believe how much hasn't changed! I am still madly in love with my husband, and I feel so blessed to be married to such an amazing man!

Happy Anniversary, Jim! I love you!

Have a fabulous week, and I hope to see you at the Studio Wed Event!

Darling Dahlias!

Whenever we do a wedding, I count down the days until I get to see the pictures from the event! I just got the pictures of Robyn's wedding at the Trolley Barn, and I am so excited to share them! Robyn looked gorgeous, and Jamie Howell, the photographer, did an amazing job capturing so many precious moments!

Here is the bride's bouquet! The bouquet consisted of white roses, dark pink roses, dark pink dahlias, white ranunculus, white cymbidium orhids, and light creamy green hydrangeas.

Down the ceremony aisle, we sprinkled dark pink and white rose petals.

On the outside barn doors, we hung wreaths of white roses, dark pink roses, white spider mums, white ranunculus, and dark pink dahlias.

The highboy tables for the cocktail hour were complimented with simple vases of white spider mums and dark pink dahlias.

At the reception the bride chose three different centerpieces. The tallest centerpiece consisted of a tall glass vase filled with granny smith apples and topped with an arrangement of green hydrangeas, white roses, dark pink roses and dark pink dahlias.

Another centerpiece consisted of a trio of glass cylinder vases filled
with different flowers and topped with a floating candle.

I absolutely LOVE Jamie Howell's work! Here are some of his pictures that I just had to share!

You can check out more of Jamie Howell's work at
www.jamiehowell.net

I know I have raved about The Trolley Barn in other blog entries, but it really is one of my favorite locations! Here is a picture that Jamie Howell captured! What a stunning location for a wedding!

This was such a fun wedding to be a part of!
Congratulations to our beautiful bride and groom! Best wishes!

All the Birch Bloomin' Updates!

I feel like I haven't posted anything in awhile, so I have a bunch of news and updates to share today!

First off, on May 23rd, I attended a GORGEOUS wedding right outside of St. Louis. It is so rare for me to attend a wedding for fun these days! I didn't do any work on this wedding, so I was able to walk around and appreciate the gorgeous centerpieces and wedding flowers!

The colors were hot pink and teal, and I loved all the surprising places the colors popped up. For example, the bride, Tracey, wore a pair of fabulous teal heels! She carried a bouquet of cream, light pink and dark pink peonies, and all the bridesmaids carried bouquets of dark pink peonies.
All of the details, including the flowers, reminded me of 'Old Hollywood'.

The other exciting surprise was that the wedding photographer was Rebecca Peters, who I grew up with in Kansas and have known since I was 6 years old. Her work is AMAZING, and she has been voted KC's Best Photographer (www.rpetersphotography.com). For those of you who absolutely fall in love with her work, she will travel for weddings! Her blog may just inspire some shots you want to capture for your own wedding!

One more photography note! At the reception, the couple had a photobooth, which was so much fun! I am not sure of any companies that provide this service in Atlanta, but I am sure I will hear of some soon and will post the info in future posts. Awww.... what a nice keepsake for your guests...

After I returned home from my travels, I had a wedding at the Duluth Festival Center! I am waiting on pictures from that wedding now, and I soon as I get them, I will post them here!

The super exciting news is that my 'Polka Dots for Spring' Wedding has been chosen to be featured as a Real Wedding in The Knot Magazine Georgia Edition! It will be on stands in November, and I am just so excited! The bride, Amy, was such a joy to work with, so I am so excited for her! When the magazine comes out, I will be sure to scan the spread and post it here!

In the meantime, we have a wedding coming up in a couple weeks at the Trolley Barn. We are excited about the venue, our adorable bride, Robyn, and the dark pink flowers we will be working with! As always, when we get pictures, we will be sure to post them!

Have a fun and safe 4 of July!

Classic White Wedding!

On May 2nd, we did a classic white wedding! Our darling bride, Laura, chose white peonies, cream roses, white calla lilies and white snapdragons for her lush, gorgeous bouquet! While all the flowers were of the same hue, the different blooms added such fabulous dimension! We love this bouquet! The groom wore a calla lily and looped lily grass for a simple, classy boutonniere.

The wedding was at the Grace United Methodist Church, and the location provided some beautiful backdrops for the wedding pictures. Their reception was at The Arbors in Alpharetta, which is an adorable place! For the centerpieces, the bride chose 3 cylinder vases each filled with shells and water, topped with a floating candle, and surrounded by pale yellow rose petals. The bride's impecable taste created a perfect, classic storybook wedding!

Polka Dots for Spring!

On April 18th, we were part of an adorable wedding at the Roswell River Landing. Our bride, Amy, chose fantastic, bright colors for her spring wedding!

Her colors were green and yellow, and her bouquet featured daisies, white mums, yellow ranunculus, white ranunculus and green hydrangeas all tied with green and yellow polka dot grossgrain ribbon!

Her bridesmaids all carried bouquets of daisies, white mums, green button mums, yellow snapdragons and green hydrangeas tied with white and green polka dot grossgrain ribbon.

Her photographer was Michael Saba (http://sabaphoto.com), and here are pictures of all the amazing details!

Amy's wedding is featured as a Real Wedding on www.theknot.com, so if you want to check out more details about her wedding go to:

http://myrealwedding.theknot.com/photo/view/Amy-and-Josh039s-classic-but-original-green-and-yellow-outdoor-wedding-in-Roswell-Georgia

Here were a few we had to share:

She dyed her slip green to match her colors, so as she would lift her dress to walk or dance, you would see the color peeking out! I thought this was just darling!

Coming up! We did a very beautiful and classic wedding this last weekend, featuring white peonies, cream roses and white snapdragons! As soon as we get the pictures, we will post them!

Blue, Purple and Peacock all over!

Some of you brides may have heard of "Trash the Dress" photo shoots, referring to photographs that contrasts elegant clothing with an environment in which it is completely out of place. I love it when brides do a "Trash the Dress" session in their wedding dress!

A couple weeks ago, we did a bouquet for one of our brides, Ashley, who did a Trash the Dress shoot with Blue World Photography. We can't say enough wonderful things about Blue World Photography! We ABSOLUTELY LOVE them and recommend them for your wedding! You can see more of their work at www.blueworldstudios.com

While Ashley's wedding was very traditional (i.e., blush peonies, pink roses, green hydrangeas), she wanted something a little more edgy for her Trash the Dress shoot to match the blue and purple streaks in her hair! So, we did a bouquet of dark blue and purple hydrangeas, purple stock, blue delphinium, light purple lilies, and violet carnations (Ack! I know! Carnations! But the color of them was toooo intense and vivid! They were a perfect accent for the bouquet!). The bouquet was accented with a ton of green, blue and purple peacock feathers. It was such a fun bouquet to do!

Pretty In Pink

This summer wedding at The Carl House in Auburn, Georgia was completely inspired by a cover for Martha Stewart WEDDINGS. This gorgeous bride loved all the shades of pink and green, so we used different types of pink roses, creamy pink peonies and green hydranges to create this magazine-worthy look! Of course, the adorable bride and groom were magazine worthy themselves! They were just such a sweet couple to work with!

At the reception we featured low and high centerpieces. Above, the high centerpieces were tall glass trumpet vases filled with crystals and one LED light topped with a whimsical arrangement of roses, hydrangeas, and snapdragons.

More Red Roses

Here are pictures from a wedding we did at Anthony's Fine Dining in Buckhead. The wedding was right around Valentine's Day, so the bride wanted all the flowers to be red roses. The consistency of the red roses was absolutely striking and beautiful!

Tickled Pink!

The flower arrangements we did for the January 26, 2008 wedding reception were so much fun! The wedding reception was held at the Renaissance Atlanta Hotel Downtown, so the floor to ceiling windows did a gorgeous job of reflecting all the candlelight in the room! The colors were pink and brown, so we used different types of pink flowers to create depth and some color variation.

This first arrangement, which was placed on a third of the tables, consisted of pink roses, pink hydrangeas and pink orchids. The arrangement was placed at the base of a nine votive candleholder. The Table Cards (and all other decor) were done by Lemiga Event Management.

Here is another look at the nine votive candleholder. You can see the arrangement at the base of the candleholder.

Another arrangement, that was placed on a third of the reception tables, consisted of pink orchids, pink lisianthus, and tealights in glass votives arranged on manzanita branches in a glass vase of pink rocks. It was a very dramatic, gorgeous centerpiece, however the flowers kept it looking sweet and delicate.

Another manzanita branch centerpiece.

These different size glass vases were filled with different flowers immersed in water and topped with a floating candle. The flowers featured were pink tulips, pink hyacinths, pink lisanthus and pink orchids.

Green Hydrangeas and Pink Roses

Here is a wedding we did in July 2007 featuring hydrangeas and roses. The bride's bouquet consisted of green hydrangeas and combination of pink and white roses. The bridesmaids, who were wearing green dresses, carried bouquets of white hydrangeas and pink roses. The flowers were just so delicate and gorgeous! We loved working with this bride and her mother!

The bride, with her bouquet, and her groom.

We also arranged flowers on the top tier of the wedding cake. The arrangement consisted of white hydrangeas, green hydrangeas and pink roses.

Periwinkle Hydrangeas and Stephanotis

This was one of our favorite weddings! It was in September 2007 at the Wolf Mountain Vineyards and Winery in Dahlonega, GA. The bride was just so lovely, and the flowers totally reflected her pesonality!

The bridesmaids all held bouquets of periwinkle hydrangeas, and the bride held a large bouquet of perwinkle hydrangeas and pearled stephanotis.

Bright Summer Colors!

One of the common color combinations we saw with brides in 2007 was bright pinks, reds, yellows and oranges! These colors were just gorgeous for summer weddings!

Here is a wedding we did in June at the Piedmont Room, and we loved working with this gorgeous bride!! The bouquets featured hot pink roses, red roses, orange roses, bright yellow roses and red parrot tulips.

Peonies

At Birch Blooms, one of our favorite flowers to work with is Peonies! They are just so full and luscious, and their fragrance is gorgeous! Here is a bouquet we did for a June 2007 bride that featured cream peonies, blush roses, and jade hypericum berries. The bouquet was tied with white satin ribbon with champagne ribbon detailing.

Pale Pink Roses

There is nothing more feminine and delicate than pale pink for a wedding.
Here are some bouquets we designed for a pale pink wedding. While the bridesmaids' bouquets only featured pale pink and white roses, the bride's bouquet was gorgeous with pale pink roses, white roses, fragrant gardenias, pearled stephanotis, and pink tulips.

Hot Pink and Chocolate Brown

Hot Pink and Chocolate Brown was a hot, hot color combination for 2007! Here are some flowers we designed for a wedding featuring hot pink roses with chocolate brown details!

Bridesmaids' bouquets featuring hot pink roses! They look just gorgeous against the chocolate brown dresses.

Full bouquets of hot pink roses collared with salal and tied with champagne satin ribbon.

Cake Flowers

We LOVE to decorate wedding cakes with flowers! Here are a few from 2007!

White Hydrangea blooms and blue delphinium on this chocolate tiered cake.

A toss bouquet of Tiffany Blue hydrangeas next to a towering tiered Tiffany Blue cake!

Red roses arranged on top of a white wedding cake with red roses and rose petals scattered around the bottom tiers.

Red Roses arranged on top of a tall white wedding cake with red rose petals scattered around the base of the cake.

Orange Ranunculus arranged around the base of this gorgeous wedding cake.

White Hydrangeas and Blue Delphinium

For this wedding, the bride chose white hydrangeas, pearled stephanotis, and light blue and dark blue delphinium. Her bouquet was tied with white satin ribbon and vintage lace from her mother's wedding gown.

All photos by Kennison Photography

White Roses and Calla Lilies

Here are some pictures of a wedding we did on New Year's Eve a couple years ago. The flowers featured are white roses and white calla lilies, and the combination was so simple and elegant!

Here was the bride's bouquet. She wanted a small posy of just white calla lilies.

This centerpiece consisted of white roses and white calla lilies and was placed on the bride and groom's sweetheart table.

The rest of the tables had very simple, elegant arrangements of two large white calla lilies in Eiffel Tower Vases.

Corporate Christmas Party

Here are some arrangements we did for a corporate Christmas Party in December 2006.

The first arrangement was in a glass vase filled with red glass ornaments and featured red roses, red dutch tulips, white roses, white stock, and red hypericum berries.

This arrangement was in a square glass vase featuring the same flowers, however the vase was filled with red sparkly twine and red water. It really was quite beautiful surrounded by tealights on the bar at the party.

Friday, January 18, 2008

Masquerade Ball

This is another event we did with Lemiga. The theme of the party was a Masquerade Ball, so we were really able to get creative with the floral arrangements.

This arrangement was located in the center of the room and helped set an elegant mood. The arrangement consisted of curly willow branches with salal leaves and red orchids at the base. The balls of flowers arranged in the branches consisted of red roses, red amaryllis, and red orchids.

This arrangement was done in a glass vase filled with liquid crystals and red roses arranged "pave style" collared with black feathers.

All photos by Blue World Photography

Purple Hydrangeas

Here is a bouquet/boutonniere combo we did, and is one of my favorites! The boutonniere consists of purple hydrangea (the bride's favorite) and snapdragon tips. The bouquet consisted of purple hydrangea, purple hyacinth, green hydrangea and white stock.

Pink Rose Ball

The Pink Rose Ball was an event we did with Lemiga Event Management (http://www.lemiga.com/) in November 2006 at Paschals in Atlanta. This is one of my all time favorite events! It was a 50th Birthday Party, and the whole theme was so elegant and girly! The flowers featured were Pink Roses, White Hydrangeas, and White Snapdragons.
